A little rain couldn't even stop us!
It only took us eight years to make the forty five minute drive to Vacherie Louisiana. So, when my husband has the weekend off not even the rain could stop my plans. We packed a picnic of fabulous Curry Chicken Salad and pb&j's for the kids and headed off to Oak Alley Plantation.
We had a wonderful time learning a little more about Southern living, and seeing these 300 year old oak trees was breath taking.

My children had just has wonderful a time sloshing around in puddles, and wishing that I would give them permission to climb just "one" of the big beautiful trees.
We left a little more soggy then when we came , but the rain felt good and rejuvenating as having the whole family together. It was what we needed a weekend, a picnic, and these memories.

I LOVE Oak Alley... I am sos glad you finally made it, rain or no! Great photos - oh, this made me miss LA today!!!
Memories! That is a pretty incredible place. Looks like you had a great time. That photo of the trees is fabulous, Allison!
Oak Alley was my favorite plantation home of all! I'm so glad you went to see it. I'm glad to see the trees are still standing!
Oh, I adore Oak Alley! It is just like visiting a stitch in time and it's just gorgeous! So glad to hear that you did this before you leave. :) And I'm sure a weekend all together as a family was a moment to savor too!
I am actually very surprised you guys have never been there. I am glad you went rain or shine. I love driving that plantation road. And the trees are so AMAZING.
That photo of you guys is Christmas card worthy....
Now, that's the South I have in my mind. Beautiful. I'm so glad you had a nice family outing, even with the rain.
I remember it well. That is where I first learned of the legend of the pineapple.
These pictures are stunning -- those trees! What a beautiful family getaway. I was thinking the same as Jenny -- that would be a wonderful Christmas card photo.
We love that place, this brought back such sweet memories--those mint juleps they make there always looked so refreshing in the hot humid air (but, I refrained). So glad you guys made the trek to do it.
Your kids are so darling, Allison! I can't believe how big everyone has gotten. I'm sure it will be hard to leave NOLA after all you've been through. I sure miss it...
Beautiful Oak Alley! Everything looks so green and lush. I can't wait to take the kids there someday. YOUR kiddos look so big. Thought about you a lot during Katrina anniversary.
That place looks beautiful, rain and all.

Glad you finally made it! Even after 8 years ... now you should go again, just for good measure! I loved it every single time we went. Darling pictures of you and your crew.
Hopefully the weather is cooling down for you a bit!
OH, Oak Alley is such a beautiful place, those trees have such history and they are just amazing. I bet rain, made it more mystical.
